About Outdoor Wall Lights

An outdoor wall light marks the front door, lights up the patio and helps security cameras see at night. Check the IP rating on each product, which shows how well the fitting keeps out dust and water: IP44 suits sheltered spots, and IP65 or higher handles walls exposed to rain.

Choose from classic lanterns that take an E27 bulb, GU10 up-and-down lights that wash light across the wall, integrated LED fittings with no bulb to replace, and round bulkheads for walkways and service areas.

Outdoor Wall Lights: frequently asked questions

What IP rating does an outdoor wall light need?

IP44 suits sheltered spots such as covered patios. For walls exposed to rain, choose IP65 or higher. The IP rating is listed on each product page.

Should I choose an LED fitting or one that takes a bulb?

Integrated LED fittings have no bulb to replace. Lanterns and up-and-down lights that take an E27 or GU10 bulb let you change the brightness and colour later.

Can outdoor wall lights work with a motion sensor?

Some fittings include a sensor; others can be wired to a separate sensor or day/night switch by your electrician. Check the product page for built-in sensor models.

What colour light is best outside?

Warm white (about 3000K) is the usual choice for entrances and patios. Cooler or daylight light (4000–6000K) is often used for security and service areas.
